As I have mentioned before, if I like the characters in a book I don't care much for the story. Thank God, the story in this book kind of kept me intrigued, because Tom and Kevin.... I did not like them a lot. I felt for them and I understood where they were coming from at times, but I couldn't suppress the need to take a shower after reading this book. Because these men were kind of disgusting..
This story is entirely from Tom's POV and even he was sometimes disgusted with some of Kevin's things. Like waking up in Kevin's bedroom and everything smells like sweat socks! Or almost throwing up after using Kevin's bathroom. Ok, I get it, Kevin is not a hygienic guy... But do we have to read about every filthy thing Tom comes across?
I mean these men piss in the backyard, belch after taking a sip of their beer (why do we have to read about it??), they walk around naked all the time and even put furniture together naked! They come home from Ikea, they drop their clothes and just go work on the furniture? Why why why??? It doesn't really serve a purpose except grossing me out some. Perhaps that is just the woman in me....
I really don't mind men getting dirty or belching or peeing or anything, but this book made me feel a little dirty...

The suppressed memories of Kevin kept the story interesting, but the characters definitely didn't.

And one other thing, beards are not sexy... If a person is described as really sexy with a goatee or something, that I can live with, but Tom kept pulling at his beard... So not sexy...
