DNF at 50%

I can’t take anymore. This book is just weird.
Weird interactions, weird dialogue.

Some examples:

Max has just met his new neighbor Keith. Keith takes Max home because Max’s car is in the shop. They stop at Keith’s house. And of course it is perfectly normal for Max to take a shower there and to make lunch for Keith and his mother wearing nothing but a towel. Yup, I do that all the time!



And how these guys talk to each other.

“I like to shop local when I can.”
“Okey dokey, Levin.”
“You’re funny, you know that, Kelley ?” Before he knew what he was doing, he pushed Keith in the shoulder—and damn if he couldn’t feel the swell of Keith’s biceps through his jacket. Max snatched his hand back, not sure what had gotten into him. “Yeah.” Keith coughed into his hand, looking flustered.

Wait…. did I miss something funny? Because this was awful.

And if my MC finds someone attractive I want to read all about it. I don’t like it that Max thinks that Keith is slightly attractive and then sums up all of the things that are wrong with him. I never felt the attraction. Even during the first make out scene it’s more of a contest who can blow the other one better. I didn’t like it.

If I can’t connect with the characters and I honestly don’t like them I know I won’t enjoy the rest of the book.
